Project
TREESURE addresses the growing risk of tree failure in Europe’s urban forests caused by increasingly intense windstorms by providing a co-designed decision support system for tree health monitoring and risk-informed management. The project combines ESA satellite data, IoT sensor data, and nature-based solutions such as root – anchoring systems to support early warning, damage prevention, and coordinated local responses. Developed and validated across three different European geographies,
TREESURE is built around strong stakeholder engagement—bringing together risk managers, practitioners, local authorities, and civil society from the outset through case studies, tabletop games, co-creation of dashboards, user guidelines, and policy tools.
By addressing both technical challenges and social aspects such as public trust and misinformation, and by assessing sustainability and economic viability through life cycle assessment, TREESURE aims to enhance local resilience and the safe, sustainable management of urban forests.
